Prayer for a Country- Norway

Prayer for a Country
August
Norway:
officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic unitaryconstitutional monarchy occupying the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula, as well as Jan Mayen, the Arcticarchipelago of Svalbard and Bouvet Island.Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of about 4.9 million. It is the second least densely populated country in Europe.

Oslo, Norway:
Oslo (Norwegian pronunciation: [ùʃlu] ( listen) or [ùslu]) is a municipality, as well as the capital and most populous city in Norway. As a municipality, it was established on January 1, 1838.

Oslo is the culturalscientificeconomic and governmental centre of Norway. The city is also a hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping. It is an important centre for maritime industries and maritime trade in Europe. The city is home to many companies within the maritime sector, some of which are amongst the world's largest shipping companies, shipbrokers and maritime insurance brokers. Oslo is a pilot city of the Council of Europe and the European Commissionintercultural cities programme. As of 2010, the metropolitan area of Oslo has a population of 1,442,318 of whom 912,046[6] live in the contiguous conurbation. The population currently increases at a record rate of 1.64% annually, making it the fastest growing city in Europe.

PRAY FOR:

in OSLO, Norway: A home-grown terrorist set off an explosion that ripped open buildings in the heart of Norway's government Friday, then went to a summer camp dressed as a police officer and gunned down youths as they ran and even swam for their lives, police said on Friday. A total of  76 people were killed.

* Please keep the people of Oslo and the surrounding cities in your prayers as they coup with the lost of so many. Many lost more than just one relation in the shooting, and still more are mourning with them as they press forward through this unimaginable trial. It was a most devastating shock to hit the small, but populous city of Oslo.

Prayer for a Country- Pakistan

Prayer for a Country

Pakistan
Pakistan, an arid and mountainous country nearly twice the size of California, is bordered by Afghanistan, India, Iran and China. This ancient civilization has undergone invasions by myriad people groups throughout its long history, the most recent being the British occupation from the mid-18002. With the departure of the British in 1947, Muslin Pakistan split from Hindu India, with ingoing wars being fought over the disputed Kashmir territory. Since that time, corruption and alternating civilian and military rule have greatly destabilized the fledgling Islamic republic. Pakistan has maintained an uneasy alliance with the United States since 9/11 but has struggled to control the Taliban-linked tribal regions along the Afghan border.
Though the British brought Christianity with them when they occupied Pakistan in the 19th century, today Christians make up less than two percent of the population. With the increase of Islamic extremism and support for Sharia law since the 1970s, Christians have been experiencing progressively more persecution and even martyrdom at the hands of both the state and their communities.
PRAY FOR:

Those without Christ
· That the 97% of the population that hasn’t heard the Gospel would hear and repent.
The church in Pakistan
· That God would grant strength and comfort to those facing persecution
· That God would strengthen the church and cause it to grow.
· That God would send missionaries to the 463 people groups of Pakistan.
