Prayer for a Country- Norway

Prayer for a Country
August
Norway:
officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic unitaryconstitutional monarchy occupying the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula, as well as Jan Mayen, the Arcticarchipelago of Svalbard and Bouvet Island.Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of about 4.9 million. It is the second least densely populated country in Europe.

Oslo, Norway:
Oslo (Norwegian pronunciation: [ùʃlu] ( listen) or [ùslu]) is a municipality, as well as the capital and most populous city in Norway. As a municipality, it was established on January 1, 1838.

Oslo is the culturalscientificeconomic and governmental centre of Norway. The city is also a hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping. It is an important centre for maritime industries and maritime trade in Europe. The city is home to many companies within the maritime sector, some of which are amongst the world's largest shipping companies, shipbrokers and maritime insurance brokers. Oslo is a pilot city of the Council of Europe and the European Commissionintercultural cities programme. As of 2010, the metropolitan area of Oslo has a population of 1,442,318 of whom 912,046[6] live in the contiguous conurbation. The population currently increases at a record rate of 1.64% annually, making it the fastest growing city in Europe.

PRAY FOR:

in OSLO, Norway: A home-grown terrorist set off an explosion that ripped open buildings in the heart of Norway's government Friday, then went to a summer camp dressed as a police officer and gunned down youths as they ran and even swam for their lives, police said on Friday. A total of  76 people were killed.

* Please keep the people of Oslo and the surrounding cities in your prayers as they coup with the lost of so many. Many lost more than just one relation in the shooting, and still more are mourning with them as they press forward through this unimaginable trial. It was a most devastating shock to hit the small, but populous city of Oslo.

Alacrity Prayer List

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 27:4-5

Prayer:
*to want to seek and know HIM more! I have that longing to *know* HIM, but others I know do not.
* For them to *know* Him and to want to know Him.
* for them to realize that true happiness Only comes from God and not from anything this world can offer.

Alacrity Prayer List

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love"                   1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Prayer:
* for courage in standing up for what we believe in. Courage to not be tempted by what the world tells you is right, and by all the candy-coated lies the media throws at you.
* that if this ministry is the Lord's will, that it be furthered more to advance His kingdom and to bring Glory and Honor ONLY to Him!
IJM's Prayer List

"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breast-plate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
— Ephesians 6:14-15

Africa

  • Pray for our church and community outreach efforts in Rwanda. Ask God to give the staff creative ideas and visionary thinking to engage churches and local communities. Also pray that pastors would be moved to speak out on behalf of vulnerable girls in their communities.
  • Pray for a woman in Uganda who stands against a powerful perpetrator who has stolen her land. She returned from four years of medical care to find her home fenced off and a community that stood adamantly against her. She was left homeless while the perpetrator manipulated the community against her. First attempts at mediation proved unsuccessful; a second attempt, though still difficult, seemed more hopeful. Please pray that God would intervene on behalf of our client, that this powerful perpetrator would follow through on her promise to return her land, and that her community would no longer abuse this desperate widow.

Latin America

  • Please pray for discernment for the leaders in the IJM Bolivia office as they make hiring decisions for several open staff positions. Pray also pray for strength and perseverance for the staff who are serving in departments with these vacant staff positions.
  • Please ask God to bless a developing partnership between Asociación para una Sociedad más Justa (ASJ), IJM’s Casework Alliance Partner in Honduras, and the Honduran government. Pray that the public justice officials would prioritize the pilot project and support ASJ’s initiative.

South Asia

  • Please pray for a sex trafficking court case that was scheduled for judgment in June, but has been delayed repeatedly. Pray that God will work in the heart of the judge and that he will quickly give a well-reasoned verdict against the suspected perpetrator facing criminal charges.
  • Praise God that six perpetrators have been convicted this month for trafficking crimes in three separate cases. Pray that the women and girls who were once sexually exploited would find courage and continued healing from this news. Pray also that the perpetrators would experience repentance and healing even as they serve sentences in prison.
  • Thank God for allowing IJM and police to intervene and rescue three young boys who were in the process of being trafficked for child labor. Pray that the government agencies responsible for protecting and serving these boys would provide swift, holistic care.
  • Please pray that God will grant our investigators creativity and grace to enter brothels where we have struggled to gain access in the past.

Southeast Asia

  • Praise God for a successful operation in the Philippines. This week seven women and girls who had been trafficked for sex were rescued by IJM and the anti-trafficking police unit. Pray that God would grant these young women peace and protection, especially during their initial weeks of freedom.
  • Please continue to pray for the IJM Thailand team as they assist individuals living in hill tribes who are not recognized as official citizens and therefore live outside the protection of the law. Pray for a specific government official who was recently transferred to a rural district with hundreds of pending citizenship application documents. He has worked closely with IJM in the past to grant citizenship to those who deserve it. Pray that God would bless his work and individuals living in this region would be granted citizenship and the protection and security they deserve.
