P&P

Posting prayers and Praises from me, IJM [other organizations] and from you, fellow bloggers.
Alacrity Prayer List

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Prayer:
* to love one another. For love is patient, kind, it always trusts, protects, hopes, perseveres, it NEVER fails. We all need to love those around us with even just a little of the love God shows us.  He loves us no matter what we do, He loves/loved even though He knew what sin we would commit. Can we not also love one another in this way? Love them even though they wrong, as there will be those who do. Love them even though they may not love you back or you may not get anything back for loving them. Love never fails.
* So pray for God to help you love others the way He loves us :)
IJM Prayer List

"This is what the Lord says: 'Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.’ "
— Isaiah 56:1

Africa

  • Praise God that a violent perpetrator was arrested in Uganda last week for blocking a young widow and her three children from their land. The perpetrator has a reputation for being involved in witchcraft in their small community, and, as a result, many people feared her. She may have appeared “untouchable,” but police successfully arrested her. She has been denied bail, meaning she will await trial from prison. Pray for wisdom for the IJM Uganda team as her case develops.
  • Please continue to pray for a widow in Uganda who was violently assaulted by her brother-in-law last year when he attempted to steal her land. After months of delays, the court finally heard his defense and will now make a decision in her case. Pray that the court will deliver a just ruling and our client may once again live peacefully in her home.
  • Pray for two police trainings in Zambia scheduled for July and August. Please pray that these trainings will help law enforcement officers understand the laws of succession so they may protect widows from illegal property seizure.

Latin America

  • Praise God that a Guatemalan man was convicted last week and sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing his nine year old sister-in-law. Pray for continued healing for this young girl, and boldly ask God to restore the relationships in this family.
  • Please pray that Paz y Esperanza, IJM’s casework alliance partner in Peru, would find a suitable and safe location for a new office.
  • Please pray for IJM’s casework alliance partner in Honduras, ASJ. Pray that an investigation would soon conclude, leading to the arrest of two murder suspects.

South Asia

  • Praise God for a successful anti-trafficking operation last week. Ten girls and young women were rescued from a brothel where they had been forced into prostitution in a dirty, cramped brothel. Praise God for excellent cooperation with the anti-trafficking police unit whom IJM accompanied, and pray for the healing process to begin for these girls.
  • Please pray for four separate forced labor slavery cases which are at varying stages of trial in South Asia. Pray that the courts would rule justly and perpetrators of forced labor crimes would be sentenced according to the law.
  • A new Public Prosecutor will soon be appointed in the court in one south asian city where the majority of IJM’s sex trafficking trials are heard. Pray that he will continue to collaborate with IJM on cases and will fight for justice on behalf of victims of trafficking.

Southeast Asia

  • Pray that the young women who have been rescued from bars where they were trafficked for sex in the Philippines would have courage and confidence to reintegrate into their communities despite the abuse they have endured. Pray for more job and education opportunities to meet the long-term needs of our clients.

  • Praise God for equipping our faithful Justice Advocate volunteers with creativity and confidence to help share the mission of IJM and speak out on behalf of men, women and children who are trapped in slavery. Pray that God would bless their sacrifice of time and encourage them in tangible ways this week.
  • Pray for the IJM Canada staff planning a series of fall events to raise awareness and support for IJM’s work around the world.
  • Please continue to pray that God would send us a qualified marketing professional to serve as Director of Marketing in IJM’s Global Communications department in Washington, D.C.
